Cissy served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana 20 years ago. It was a life changing experience. Since then, she has worked at leading nonprofits (Kiva, Common Sense Media) and technology companies (Google, YouTube) in policy and operations roles. When she became a mother she noticed an absence of children's books specifically about the Peace Corps volunteer experience.

The development of this book was truly a passion project to create something special and celebrate an iconic American institution. The Peace Corps encourages Americans to think globally, open their hearts and be of service to others.
